Right, so going into the second game of Death or Glory, and I'm playing another player that won their game, and another difficult match up. I'm playing against a guy called Jody Rosher, and he was running a cooky Imperial Guard 5th edition style list. And the list was as follows:

Ok, few clarifications before I get started. Firstly, I was going to introduce this as my third post, this is because I started my second, about my preparations, then got bored, went to play some League, and forgot about it, thinking I'd finished and posted it. Good job! Secondly, when I say GT what I mean is a 2 day tournament, although one of them is the actual GT. So, here comes a mountain of shit, aimed directly at you, reviewing my experiences of the 2 events, and going through my games briefly. Or maybe not so briefly, arriving at part XI, on left.

Beginning Toy Solider Prep Work

So, me and my cohort of chaos bloggers are rolling out to this years 'Toy Solider' Tournament. Being the first major event I am going to in a long time makes this a big thing for me so I want to prep nice and early. Also I do need to do a lot of buying and painting of models when I get the chance. But hey, there is still a long time to go.

Now in one of the Podcasts that I listened to was talk about a Chaos Marine player in America who came 6th in the Las Vagas Open, where he used the Sun Burst Artifact out of the Black Legion supplement book (a really long named one) and it got my tactical mind buzzing. Now it worked well and true for this American chap sniping the enemies troop units at the back of the board edge via arriving outflank granted by the Slannesh Steed. I liked this tactic, but I always want more from it so I've decided to take it a little further.

So as we have heard the rumours, might as well put this into perspective. A New Chaos Space Marine Codex! Awesome! Is it Iron Warrior? Word Bearer? Night Lords? A better Thousand Sons? wait... Crimson Slaughters? Who are they...

Time to kill the Imperial Knight

It has been a while since my last post and I would like to start off by doing a small round up of my current list and project. For my 1850 list I have removed the Cammo netting off of the Manticore, realizing if my enemy sees it, it is going to die. I also have swapped the Veterans plasma guns for flamers, as their job to knock enemies off of objectives will be a short ranged warfare, and not doing themselves in would be an improvement. I also have removed the three missiles off of my infantry platoon, as the three missiles do not do much in the way of anti MC or tank when I have 27 guns pointing towards T4 things I can kill, so it makes it easier to stream line what the unit does, so they are gone.

In replacement of these changes are a unit of 10 Ratling Snipers. Coming in at 100 points with 10 shots a turn wounding on 4's regardless of toughness and rending on 6's with precision shots averaging out at 1.66 every time I shoot, they do far better than my missiles. Also with the units ability to infiltrate and having stealth off the bat, I can give them a very nice cover save. If i want them to sit back away from my enemies however, I can put them close to my Commissar Lord, giving them LD10 and stubborn to ensure they stick around for a while.

Role in My Army

So, having an individual army list. Doesn't sound hard does it? Build it yourself, have your own strategies and it is different to everyone elses. For me, it's a nightmare! I take forever to choose a single choice that I am happy with, also with the 'Slay the Warlord' secondary, I am always scared of my lord getting his face punched in, as I am not very good at keeping HQ's around for a long time. I bought the CSM Codex as soon as it came out, and I only just have built my army, with all the individual bits I want. So, lets take a look!

Chaos Gun List

To cap off the review of our useful and useless guns, I believe it is time for an army list! 1850 points, keeping to the guns.

My name is John and I have been playing 40K for around 10 years playing Chaos Space Marines from Codex 3.5 through to 6.
