Right, so going into the second game of Death or Glory, and I'm playing another player that won their game, and another difficult match up. I'm playing against a guy called Jody Rosher, and he was running a cooky Imperial Guard 5th edition style list. And the list was as follows:

The mission is Hammer and Anvil with multiple objectives. Night Fighting is in effect turn 1.
So, I can't sit back and fight play all cagey waiting for turn 5 to dive bomb the objectives. Because I'll just get shot up by his huge amount of Ordnance, therefore I have to push on him, and take out the threats to the Land Raiders and the threats too my Marines. I don't mind so much about the Guard, because as it transpires, there are 2 objectives in my deployment zone, 2 in the centre, and one on his side, so if I've got a load of attacks sat in Land Raiders which he cannot harm in the middle of the board, he can't come because I'll just wreck him.
So, even though it's night fight, I deploy very aggressively, in his searchlight range. This is because if I were to sit back out of searchlight range, it would take me another turn to get to him, meaning that he'll still shoot me as much I'll just have a turn less of chopping. He does however, shove his Primaris Psyker into the smaller blob, and outflank it with Creed. This means that I have to double back a squad of Spawn to deal with it. Surprisingly, the blob kills the Spawn in close combat, along with a squad of Horrors that I tried to hurl into the remainder to stall him, so at the end of the game he holds one of the objectives in my deployment zone and I hold the other. So it all happens at the other end. I hurl a pack of Spawn and the Axe of Blind Fury Raider down the left, and the BT and the other down the right.
Now, in this deployment type, it would normally be very difficult for me in this mission, simply because it is 48" from my deployment zone to his board edge, and so you can sit deep. However, because of his high model count, he can't really do this. So turn 2 I swoop over a Lascannon team with my Bloodthirster for first blood. The Spawn plough into the Leman Russes, the Axe Lord takes out a squad of men and a squad on the other side another. So I've got quite a bit in his lines now.
The Bloodthirster gets chunked pretty hard, as do the marines, so I leap them back into the Land Raider, and they then spend the game hiding until turn 5, when they jump out and hold an objective. meanwhile, the Spawn are chewing on some more Guardsmen, the Lord is hitting something or other and the Bloodthirster is hacking his way through tanks.
When the Bloodthirster runs out of Ordnance vehicles to chomp on, he charges Creed's Chimera. One of Creed's mates then overwatches with a grenade out of the firing hatch, hitting, wounding, and killing the Bloodthirster.
However, at this point it's irrelevant, he can't shift my Marines and even if he could he can't ignore the mini-deathstar bludgering it's way towards his objective. So I jump some Marines out onto the 2 middle objectives, squat on his home objectives, and win the game 3-1 on objectives, with First Blood and Linebreaker Tournament Points also picked up.
